The Path of Ease and Flow

The Way of the sage

Let’s take a few minutes to imagine you in the future. What would your life be like if you could meet the stress and challenges of your life with a clear head while taking decisive action? Maybe you’d like to stop negative thoughts in their tracks or rebound faster from stressful stations.

Do you wonder what it would feel like to free yourself from chronic fatigue? How about having enough capacity and resources to view every outcome or circumstance in life as a gift or opportunity? Most importantly, do you even believe living such a life is possible?

The Key is the sage

We have two sides of the brain, and both feel and behave quite differently. The left side, the part of our brain that motivates us through negative emotions, is where our saboteurs live. The right side, the part that motivates us through positive emotions, is where the Sage lives.

The Sage side is the place where your superpowers live. It’s the place that moves you into action through energizing emotions like empathy, inspiration, joy, and creativity. It’s where the big picture, contribution, purpose, and meaning grow and thrive. Why is it the key? This perspective helps you meet most of life’s challenges while simultaneously creating personal satisfaction, peace of mind, and happiness. Imagine those moments when you’re firing on all cylinders, meeting the demands of your day, and feeling great while doing it — this is what being in Sage mode feels like.

By strengthening your Sage mental muscle, you can take control and create more possibilities and choices than before. Inner freedom comes from feeling that you have choices, no matter what the circumstance may be.

Connecting to Your Superpower

What comes to mind when you think about superpowers? An unusual ability often associated with great strength or gifts, right? The Sage’s superpower is creating deep present-moment awareness so you can pause and choose how you want to respond to a challenge.

There are three gifts that the sage perspective gives us:

  1. The Gift of Knowledge - Awareness of what you need so that the payoff in the future is much larger than what it’s costing you now.

  2. The Gift of Power - Seeing the problem like it’s a weight in the gym that makes your muscles grow.

  3. The Gift of Inspiration - Committing to an action you wouldn’t have committed to otherwise had the “bad” things in your life not happened.

Learning how to work with the crippling effects of stress and not allowing yourself to be overtaken by limiting thoughts takes great skill. Through mindful awareness, purposeful practice, and meaningful habit formation, you can hone your ability to tap into your Sage superpowers.
